The Faculty Support system was written for the College of Business at Stony Brook University. The custom solution replaced an older, less effective, and more expensive support system that was built on top of Joomla.
The main purpose of the Faculty Support system is to track tickets (requests from faculty to the College of Business). Ticket categories range from requests for technical support, to office supplies, to reimbursement of expenses. Once a ticket is submitted, support can be provided, and then closed when resolved.
The system also allows faculty to edit data such as their biography, office location, office hours, and contact information. This information is stored in a database that is publicly accessible from the College of Business directories web page.
